About Us

Hi, I'm Nate Short

HomeFAQs Founder

"A home should be a place where you make memories, not a place where you manage a never-ending to-do list."

For over 24 years, Nate Short has been a leader in the real estate industry, helping thousands of people find their place in the world. But throughout those two decades, he witnessed a heartbreaking trend: the "Dream Home" often became a source of constant stress. He saw how the joy of a first home or the peace of a retirement retreat could be slowly eroded by the overwhelming, confusing, and expensive burden of home maintenance.

Nate realized that while we love our homes, we have been left alone to figure out how to care for them.

He founded HomeFAQs to restore the romance of homeownership. By moving from a world of "fixing what’s broken" to "nurturing what we love," Nate’s vision is to take the friction out of the foundation. He believes that every homeowner deserves the peace of mind that comes with a perfectly maintained home—leaving them free to focus on the people and moments that happen inside its walls.

John Short - Your Home's First Chief Operating Office

HomeFAQs

Director of Asset Protection

"Your home is likely your largest investment; it shouldn’t be your largest source of uncertainty."

A graduate of Gonzaga University with a BA in Finance and an alumnus of Bellevue High School, John Short brings a disciplined, analytical approach to the world of home services. While many see home maintenance as a series of chores, "we see it through the lens of asset preservation."

Growing up in a real estate family, John understood early on that a home’s value isn't just in its square footage—it's in its integrity. Today, he serves as the "one-stop" resource for HomeFAQs members, transforming the way families interact with their properties.

John is the architect of the HomeFAQs Home Health Score, a proprietary metric designed to give homeowners total transparency into the "wellness" of their property. By focusing on predictive maintenance and serving as the primary coordinator for all vendor relations, John removes the guesswork and the "middleman stress" from the equation. He doesn't just wait for things to break; he ensures they don't, protecting both the sanctuary of the home and the financial future of the home asset.

The HomeFAQs Experience:

Your Home, Managed.

At HomeFAQs, we believe that owning a home should be a source of joy, not a second full-time job. We provide a comprehensive, subscription-based home management service that treats your property with the same professional rigor as a high-end commercial asset—while keeping the warmth and peace of your personal sanctuary intact.

How It Works: The "Home QB" Model

We don’t just give you a list of numbers to call; we provide a Home Quarterback (QB). Your Home QB—led by experts like John Short—is your single point of contact for everything related to your propertyThe Onboarding Audit: We begin with a deep-dive "Home Health Audit," cataloging every system, appliance, and structural element of your property.

The Home Health Score:

Based on our audit, we establish your proprietary Home Health Score. This live metric tells you exactly how "well" your home is performing and what needs attention to protect its long-term value.

Predictive Maintenance:

We don't wait for the leak. Your Home QB uses your data to schedule seasonal and preventative "check-ups" that stop emergencies before they start.

Vetted Vendor Network:

When specialized work is needed (electrical, roofing, HVAC), we don't let strangers into your home. We use our pre-vetted, high-standard vendor network.

Seamless Coordination:

Your QB handles the "Three S’s": Sourcing, Scheduling, and Supervising. You never have to wait around for a technician again.
